Nitto Tire Auto Enthusiast Day 2016
This past Sunday marked Nitto Tire’s Auto Enthusiast Day in Anaheim, CA at the Anaheim Angels stadium. This is a show that’s completely free to participants, just a way of saying thanks from the folks at Nitto Tire.
Right off the bat it was a HOT day, in the upper 90’s. Combined with the reflecting heat from the asphalt parking lot and it was well over 100 degrees. That didn’t stop any of the action or stop people from coming and seeing everything on display. The show had raffles, a car show, drift demos, vendors and live entertainment. Enough to keep anybody thoroughly entertained.
Upon entering the grounds we noticed something very special about this show – the variation. Normally when you attend a car show, there’s a fairly specific type of car on display such as classics, domestics, imports, etc. This show had a little bit of everything on hand from a classic Camaro, to a 2016 Mustang, old VW bug, to lifted trucks. There was a good representation of just about every style of car enthusiast on hand.
After walking around for a bit the sound of screeching tires and roaring engines filled the air and we were drawn like a bee to honey to the drift course. This was a barricaded area where they were doing live demos with a variety of cars and trucks from off-road vehicles to full on drift cars. Vaughn Gittin Jr. was there in his Mustang and F150, sliding both nicely around the course. Casey Currie was there was well showing off his stadium truck. None of the drivers were afraid to flat out boil the tires either, putting on a great show for everybody that would come and watch.
On the other side of the venue was a giant Ford booth where you could sign up and test drive vehicles in an autocross style course. Next to them was a ton of different vendors, showing off their latest goods and builds. We checked out the Currie Enterprises booth where the C10R was on display as well as an insane wide-body, turbo charged Nova. Wilwood disc brakes had a booth on display as well, along with Anderson Composites and RacePak to name a few. It was great being able to mingle with these manufactures along with touching and feeling their products in person.
All in all it was a great day for the automotive enthusiast. Thanks to Nitto Tire for putting on not only an amazing event, but one that cost us zero dollars! Check out more of the action down below.
